VA FY2010 spending package approved - almost $134 billion.
The bill gives the VA $133.9 billion, which includes over $76 billion in discretionary spending funds. The discretionary funds are over $439 million more than President Obama requested.
Veteran Affairs has been approved $109 billion, with just over $53 billion in discretionary funds. The total for medical care is over $44 billion.
The VA also has over $48 billion in advance appropriations for fiscal 2011, including $37.1 billion for medical services, $5.3 billion for medical support and compliance and $5.7 billion for medical facilities.
Other funding includes $2.1 billion for health care for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, $5.9 billion for long-term care for aging veterans and severely wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, $1.9 billion for VA hospital and clinic construction, $7.5 billion for the Base Realignment and Closure program, and $1.4 billion for military construction projects in Afghanistan.
